Through Astrology we gain insight into our deep-seated mental patterns and the karmas they cause. These patterns (samsaras) show the lessons our soul is trying to learn.

Enlightenment is when someone has fully reintegrated all seven rays into their being, fully understanding the forces behind them. (The psychological and elemental qualities of the planets are referred to in the section on the Chakras, as Chakras are simply the planetary forces in our Astral/mental body) But since we are not yet complete, we express their energies through our limitation.

  Astrologically, the higher Sun is the Soul; that part of us that seeks to be in the light and shine the light of the heart. A well-placed Sun gives clarity, direction, insight, intelligence, stamina and consistency. It allows one to closely connect their personal will to the higher cosmic will. 

Let’s face it, if all there was to do was work and do our duties with no relief or enjoyment, life would not even be worth living. Almost anything we can associate with ‘living the good life,’ falls under the domain of Venus. 

  Whereas Rahu casts a shadow over the Moon (the mind) and it’s perceptions through a hypnotic addiction to substance, Ketu obliterates the substance and focuses on the essence around things. Imagine a solar eclipse with the body of the Sun negated and just the corona visible.

When viewed with full understanding, the Astrology chart is a
portrait of the Soul's karma's at the time of incarnation.

The Moon is our memories and dreams and that which is the most familiar to us, both good and bad. Many of us may be unsure of our soul’s intention, but we are all sure of our past and what feel natural to us. 

Venus can also make us vain and shallow, allowing us to become seduced by worldly appearances, or by our own and its influence on others. 

  Rahu does this so that we will learn the lessons that he forces us to learn. He shows the karmic patterns in which we are stuck. But Rahu is also a very powerful creative force. Many artists and unusual people have a powerful Rahu. A strong Rahu can make a person a king.
